South Texas Stampede shines at the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo, securing 14 top-ten calls, two Golden Tickets, and a Belt Buckle. A true celebration of skill and teamwork!

South Texas Stampede at the Brazos Valley Fair and Rodeo

South Texas Stampede had an incredible showing at the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo in Bryan, TX, on October 11, 2024. Competing in multiple steak and ancillary categories, our dedicated chefs walked away with 14 top-ten calls, two Golden Tickets, and a Belt Buckle! Let’s dive into the fantastic results!

Steak A Results

The Stampede showed great skill and consistency in the Steak A category, with four of our chefs placing in the top ten. Special congratulations to Alfred Hanna, who finished in 2nd place and had the Golden Ticket passed down to him by none other than Brandon Williams (aka Weber Ninja). Alfred will now be heading to the SCA Steak World Championship in Fort Worth in March of 2025.

Steak B Results

In Steak B, James Garza took 1st place with an impressive score of 252.0—securing the highest steak score of the entire event and earning himself the Belt Buckle! James passed down the Golden Ticket to Knox Scoggins, the son of our friends Craig and Stacey Scoggins. Knox will be competing at the World Championship in March 2025. We are so proud of their family and Knox’s performance—what a moment to celebrate!

Ancillary Results

The Ancillary Category brought its own set of wins for our incredible cooks. Roberta Smith clinched 1st place, and the Golden Ticket was passed down to her by Scott Slaydon from L4 Seasonings. Roberta will also be proudly joining other STS members on the world stage in the ancillary category in Fort Worth, TX, in March of 2025. Congratulations to all who brought their creativity and flavors to this competition!

A Day of Triumph & Togetherness

The Brazos Valley Fair and Rodeo wasn’t just about the fierce competition; it was also a celebration of our South Texas Stampede community. From the thrill of securing two Golden Tickets to winning a Belt Buckle, the event highlighted the determination, skill, and teamwork of our amazing chefs.

James Garza, with his top steak score, led by example, while Alfred Hanna and Roberta Smith will be proudly joining STS on the world stage. A special mention to Knox Scoggins, who received James’ Golden Ticket and will also be heading to Fort Worth in March 2025. This is what makes our STS family unique—both in how we compete and how we support one another.
